Nice video, I can’t find that Dewalt promotion on Amazon though.
Maybe I missed the deal.

Ronald Martens says:

Once more a great video from you. You must be fit Bill.
Did you work continuously till the whole job was done or did you have breaks.
How many 2 amp and 3
Amp charges did it take to complete the job.
I mean how many charged batteries did it take. I guess you would want to give the machine a bit of a break cool down etc.
I have the Stihl 36 volt 4 amp hour line trimmer. You are the expert how does that compare to the 60 volt 3 amp hour and the 60 volt 2 amp hour.
The dewalt looks more powerful than my stihl
But I’m quite happy with my stihl.
I do have the victor 40 volt blower with one 4
Amp hour battery.
But now we see 80 volt victors lawn mower with 2 amp hour.

WalterE Coffee says:

I just purchased this 60v max DCST970. It’s a monster. It’s as powerful or more powerful than a 27cc gas unit. I tried it on Hi for a few seconds but didn’t need to use it on Hi. The variable speed on both Hi and Low is great. The unit came assembled with just a single snap to and bolt in the middle. I walked down to my lake and used it a solid 15 minutes on the new battery that wasn’t even fully charged and had plenty of juice left. It’s worth the extra $$$ to buy a powerful unit like this one. Lithium battery technology is far better than NiCad and I’ll never miss the fuss involved in maintaining a 2 stroke gas unit. Battery-operated everything is almost here.

Luis Morales says:

About the promotion you’re talking about @3:05. I think it only works with some flex volt products but not the trimmer. I just got mine and I didn’t have the option to select other products or extra battery

Tony Urso says:

Could not find anything on amazon about the flexvolt promotion for this trimmer even called customer service and she said the dewalt trimmer was not on the list of promotion tools

Brian NG says:

Very nice, would love to own one

Matthew Dinasky says:

great video Bill! I’m looking for a review on the Milwaukee string trimmer. Also hoping you will be able to review Milwaukee and DeWalt’s battery miter saws

Kim Do Hyoung says:

Can you please tell me which one do you prefer? Milwaukee 18v string trimmer? Or Dewalt flexvolt string trimmer?

leadman70 says:

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELPFUL VIDEOS. MY OLD KOBALT 40V TRIMMER FINALLY BIT THE DUST AND I WAS DOING SOME RESEARCH ON PURCHASING A NEW AND IMPROVED BATTERY OPERATED TRIMMER. STIHL AND HUSQVARNA WERE OUT OF MY PRICE RANGE. I HAD IT NARROWED DOWN TO THIS DEWALT AND THE EGO 56V TRIMMER. YOUR VIDEOS OF THIS TRIMMER IN ACTION HELPED ME DECIDE PLUS I’M 6′ 6″ TALL AND THE DEWALT IS LONGER THAN THE EGO. THAT KOBALT WOULD KILL MY BACK. I ORDERED ONE AND IT CAME IN TODAY. I’M IN LOUISIANA AND IT HAS JUST STARTED TO RAIN. TROPICAL STORM CINDY IS COMING RIGHT THROUGH OUR STATE AND ITS GOING TO RAIN FOR 3-4 DAYS. LOOKS LIKE I’LL HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK TO TRY IT OUT. I CAN’T WAIT. I USED TO WORK MAINTENANCE AT A MILL AND DEWALT HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN. THEY ARE RUGGED AND THIS WEED EATER FEELS LIKE THE SAME QUALITY. THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR WINDING NEW LINE ON IT WASN’T TOO CLEAR SO I WAS GOING TO REQUEST YOU TO MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO DO THAT BUT YOU ALREADY HAVE LOL. YOUR INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS ARE THE BEST I’VE FOUND. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

CarpentryMadeEasy says:

How do I buy the trimmer and get a free drill?

kevkel33 says:

Great video. Any idea why the big retailers Home Depot, Lowes, ETC are not stocking this item yet? Thanks in advanced!

animal79thecat says:

Help…has anyone in the UK got this model? UK version also comes with a brushcutter head attachment.
The problem with mine is the bolt on the machine isnt long enough to accept this attachment! Has anyone else experienced this?

Corteslatinodude says:

thank you im a landscaper so i was wondering if it was worth to try it out cuz a landscaper said it was worth it but i had my doubts and i was right thank you for all the information. left a like bye

Tapelegs says:

Battery is not 180 watt hours because DeWalt 20/60 volt batteries do not operate at 20/60 volt, they operate at 18/54 volts. DeWalt chose to label their batteries with the “charging” voltage instead of the “operating voltage” to differentiate their 20 volt line from their 18 volt line (and no doubt to make consumers think their “20V” packs offered some advantage over Milwaukee/Makita/Bosch 18 volt packs). 9Ah X 18V = 162Wh

Ratch Riat says:

great tools sparky.

Ronald Martens says:

Stihl have a back pack battery that costs around $900 au Australian dollar.
The battery pack weighs around 20 kilograms.these are designed for longer running time. I have to double check the amp hour. I thought about this when you bravely took on this humongous job of clearing a large area. I think by memory they stated the continues run time was 4 hours.
I will check out for you Bill.
The backpack has a cord which attached to the machine.

Ran  my new DeWALT String Trimmer today and it was wonderful. Ran it on low and trimmed an acre of fences and around the house and still had 1 green bar on the battery when finished.  Just ordered the Blower tonight and it’s all because of Sparky’s Advice. Sparky should get a kick back for these sales. LOVE DEWALT !

This video reviews the new DEWALT DCST970X1 FLEXVOLT 60V MAX String Trimmer, 3.0AH battery: Amazon.com: http://amzn.to/2pmkGaH

PrimeTimeAction says:

Wow Perfect rimming for this video. This looks quiet tempting, specially considering that this 60V battery can be used on regular 20V XR tools if needed.

J.R. Productions says:

Best on the market.

Naughty Man says:

Which way does the head rotate? It’s a straight shaft, so I’m assuming it rotates counter clockwise? I know the Milwaukee straight shaft rotates clockwise, which is odd. Some of these companies are claiming pro-use, but have heads rotating in the opposite direction of all gas powered commercial equipment.

Derek Macdonald says:

i think i might get this. dewalt tools do last. i still use my 12V drill that i got in 2003 and still works great and use it a lot

Log Home says:

Want to get both the trimmer and blower but can only afford one this month. Which one should I go for first?

Steve Jobs says:

GREAT VIDEO SPARKY THANKS

Jon Disnard says:

I own the Dewalt 40v yard tools, and wonder how the introduction of 60v will impact that market segment. The 40v are larger capacity in terms of amp hours, but heavier, so I’m guessing 40v will be more commercial landscaping and 60v for home.

Kyong Song says:

Thanks for the video. I am interested in Flexvolt OPE, but as they are new, it’s kind of hard to find reviews about them.

Considering 9Ah battery, I think that price is pretty good. But still, the whole price is pretty high.
If they have bare tools for like $150, I’d buy them and use with my 6Ah flexvolt batteries.

By the way, do you have any plan to test Black+Decker 60V OPE?
Looks like they took Dewalt 20V tools, tweaked a bit, then released as B+D 60V tools. Although they don’t seem to use brushless motors, they are somewhat more powerful than Dewalt 20V (at least, blower is).
And the batteries are pretty interesting. They probably have Flexvolt technology as well.

Jack C says:

what’s with that battery receptacle ? on the 20v it’s an open end ? is it gonna limit the battery eventual size ? like i don’t see space for a bigger battery when they come out with a 60v/4 or 5ah ?????

dave daved says:

good vid. thank god you are getting sleep. lol
