Dremel MULTI-MAX (Product Review)

This video is a product review on the Dremel Multi-Max MM20-01. I picked this up about a month ago at Lowes for under $100. It is a kit that includes the oscillating tool, a hard storage case and 8 accessories. With a 2.3 Amp motor and max output of 21,000 oscillations per minute this tool can tackle the toughest jobs. Dremel also makes a lot of different accessories that give this tool different functions. Overall this tool is well worth the money and is a must have.

Nice! Never understood when you would used the different speeds. Any guidelines? Also, what model (MM20/30/40/45) would you recommend? Thanks.

dat2ra says:

Steve, you use various speeds depending on the material you are working on. For instance, if you use high speed on a plasticized filler, plastic, or alkyd paint, it will melt and clog your paper. However, slowing it down with sand just fine.

i just find this thing strangely satisfying..

I am tempted to buy this tool for DIY wooden projects, but I am discouraged by negative reviews of it, and word-of-mouth saying that Dremel blades for this tool are fragile wear quickly, and they are very expensive. I would use it to cut mainly wood and plastic. Should I stick with my current rotary tool (Dremel 3000) or could I buy this one, too?

I’m looking for one of these tools that goes to 11. Any help?

HA! I have the MM40 with a 3.8 Amp, quick tool less change lock, and comes with more accessories than yours!

Could you use the flex scraper to remove many layers of paint and texture from a solid wood wall? I have a room that I am trying to strip. It is made of 8 x 2 planks that someone painted and actually textured…Huh? I want to remove all the layers with texture and then re-paint with no texture. Thanks for any help you can give me.

This is the one most useless tool that I have ever purchased. I bought this to make cut outs in wood door frames for electric door strike used with access control systems.   It worked great for the first 5 minutes then after that the screw that holds the cutting saw would constantly come loose. And for cutting steel door frames, forget about it, the metal cutting blades last for about 1/4″. Dremel sent me another screw/bolt, it did not work any better. I ended up buying a 18v Ryobi Job Plus tool & it works 100% all the time. The Dremel Multi Max is still resting in its’ box collecting dust.

Great review! Thanks.

i don’t like the idea where you have to use an allen wrench to unscrew the screw to replace the bit.

Good video NJPrepper–clear, to the point, no fluff. Thanks, I think I will get one of these, maybe the 3 amp model, to help me finish my hardwood oak floor.
